Junior English Summer Reading Requirements

Junior College Prep English focuses on American authors, so you must choose a book that meets the following criteria for your summer reading:

It must be written by an American author (any time period or setting).

It can be fiction or nonfiction.

It must be a book that is not a movie or a television show.

It must be a book that you have not read for another class or will not read in the upcoming year.

(Books you will read this upcoming year include The Great Gatsby, Their Eyes Were Watching God, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and The Things They Carried).

 

You might also consider a different title by one of the following authors:

Laurie Halse Anderson 

Paul Volponi 

Neal Shusterman 

Francisco Stork 

Libba Bray 

John Feinstein

Matthew Quick

Patrick Ness

A. S. King

Harlan Coben

M.T. Anderson 

John Green  (NOT The Fault in Our Stars or Paper Towns -- movies)
